Box Turtle Genetic StudyWe are volunteering to collect Box Turtle toenail samples in Colorado to contribute to a nationwide genetic study library. The goal of the study is to use the DNA to assist with future poaching cases.

Turtles at the SpillwayWe are currently working with state and federal other local agencies to safely remove Western Painted Turtles from a construction project. Once they are removed from the construction project, they will be safely released in nearby suitable habitat and monitored.

Colorado Partners in Amphibian and Reptile Conservation
Herpetofauna Survey and Outreach in Southeastern Colorado
We support an annual survey in collaboration with CO Department of Transportation and U.S. Forest Service: Comanche National Grassland across counties in southeastern Colorado. Workshop: Identification of Colorado’s Amphibians and Reptiles We facilitated an open workshop designed to teach basic characteristics of CO species. The workshop was led by Lauren Livo, PhD, a leading natural history and taxonomy expert for our region. |
