Venomous Snake Handling Experience: Mark has 27 years of reptile and amphibian experience. He has been the Education Director of two Herpetological Societies starting in 1997. He is currently the President of the Dallas Fort Worth Herpetological Society. He has created working relationships with Zoos, TPWD, state parks, nature centers, Audubon centers, cities, animal control officers, and others. He has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills leading the herpetological society, surveys, field trips, and educational programs. He has conducted multiple surveys including a current Nerodia harteri (Brazos watersnake) population survey, the TPWD Biological Inventory Team project, Audubon centers, and nature centers. Mark was an important contributor in establishing Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Biological Inventory Team program in 2011. By demonstrating strong leadership skills and exceptional experience in the field, he was appointed team leader of Reptiles and Amphibians Surveys in District 5 and is the temporary leader for District 3. Mark has also created a very successful FaceBook group that quickly identifies snakes and provides educational information.
