Rabbit Mountain Open Space
General herpetofauna assessment and mapping of hibernacula at Rabbit Mountain Open Space
We targeted all possible species of amphibians and reptiles during our survey of Rabbit Mountain Open Space. Our surveys found all expected species and provided Boulder County with a robust list of species at the property. Establishing a baseline species list and identifying habitats used help managers in land-use planning and inspiring future monitoring and research. Using non-invasive techniques to apply transmitters, we followed Prairie Rattlesnakes through their late season habits locating a maternity den and hibernacula. Understanding specific wildlife-use areas on this high visitor use Open Space is important to maximizing safety for all. |
