What does Rocky Mountain Rattlesnake Services do with the Rattlesnakes they remove?
Any Rattlesnakes that are removed will be relocated to the nearest open space. We believe in the value of snakes in wild-places. We are biologists after-all!
Research: The snakes that are removed from homes are part of our on-going rattlesnake research. We are investigating how to safely and successfully relocate rattlesnakes away from private homes and onto open spaces. We are working under a Colorado Parks and Wildlife research permit.

Why don't they kill the snake?
We are snake biologists, of course we don't want to kill snakes! However, even if we weren't snake biologists- killing a rattlesnake is dangerous and will not necessarily solve your probelm. The best, safest, and most efficient way to resolve an unwanted snake encounter is to move the snake to a safe place. We move snakes to nearby open space where they can continue being snakes and providing an ecosystem service. We have the tools, training, and experience to get the job done without any risk to anyone involved. Killing a snake is more dangerous then moving it, as it can bite for hours after its head is removed.
How can you prevent snakes from returning?
A big part of why we are different from pest control companies is that we really, really know snakes! We study snakes, we try to see snakes in our spare time. We are well trained to search for them in the wild, and know exactly what kind of features on your property could be attracting snakes. Much more than a pest control - we like to say that a rattlesnake encounter is a symptom; the problem is the yard! Yards can be attractants for snakes, they have 1. food, 2. water, 3 shelter. This can be a welcome sign!
After we catch a snake from your yard, we'll inspect the property to look for clues. We will determine what may have attracted the snake to your yard. Sometimes, it's just a random encounter and doesn't indicate a 'snake problem'. More often though, the cause is obvious to a trained eye, and we can give you advice on how to make the yard less attractive to unwanted wildlife and make your first rattlesnake encounter your last.

Why choose Rocky Mountain Rattlesnake Serivces for snake removals?
We love snakes, but we know you may not. Our goal is to be on your property within one hour of notification. Other pest removals services are not snake biologists, and therefore are not always best equipped to move a snake safely. In addition, we are humane. We will never tell you to kill a snake. We safely move a snake from your property and relocate to a nearby open space. We operate under a Colorado Parks and Wildlife research permit as well. This is the only legal way to move a rattlesnake.
